| Dr Ant Bozkaya is Visiting Faculty and Lecturer at MIT Sloan School of Management;
Visiting Scholar at Harvard Business School;
Innovation Policy and the Economy Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER);
and also Senior Research
Fellow in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Universite Libre de Bruxelles.
Ant was Founder and Director of the Project on Technological Innovation and Turkey (2008-09) at Harvard Kennedy School and Research Fellow (2005-09) at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs of Harvard Kennedy School. Ant was awarded a Science, Technology, and Public Policy Fellowship (2005-07) to conduct his doctoral dissertation research at Harvard University with Lewis Branscomb and Josh Lerner. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics and Management Science from Universite Libre de Bruxelles. Ant's research interests include policy for innovation and financing of young innovative ventures. Much of his work examines the ways in which financial intermediaries and institutional organizations impact the nature of innovation and entrepreneurship. He studied early-stage public and private venture capital financing of entrepreneurship in Finland during his tenure as visiting Research Fellow of Venture Capital at the Helsinki University of Technology. He also develops teaching materials in entrepreneurial finance and international entrepreneurship at Harvard Business School. His recent publications include Financing Entrepreneurship (with Phil Auerswald, Edward Elgar Publishing, 2008) and Entrepreneurial Finance: Financing of Young Innovative Ventures, (Verlag Publishing, 2009). Ant also has a strong background in the private sector. He held positions in management consulting (1986-1991) with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) at its Istanbul, London, and Sydney offices. He managed a number of integrated manufacturing and distribution systems software installations for multi-nationals including Microsoft, Toshiba, Epson, and BP. He was President and CEO of Bilkent Holding Technology, Healthcare, and Power Group. He started-up a number of ventures including Meteksan information technology group, Bilkent healthcare and hospital construction companies, and Bilkent electric-power generation (with Rolls-Royce Power Ventures). Ant holds a dual MBA and Master of European Management degree, and has an M.S. in Management Science, all from Universite Libre de Bruxelles. He was awarded an Aramco scholarship, and studied Petroleum Engineering and Industrial Management at the University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran, and holds a B.S. in Industrial Management with Honors. Ant also attended the first year of the Virginia Tech's MBA program. Ant served on the Board of Directors of the Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD), and has been a member since 1991. He had the privilege to serve as Trustee or Member of the Boards of Bilkent University; Informatics Association of Turkey; UNICEF Turkish National Assembly; and Turkish Business Group Brussels. He was a Fellow of the Australian Production and Control Society (APICS), and certified in Production and Inventory Management. He is member of the American Economic Association, and American Finance Association. Ant is also a researcher at the National Bureau of Economic Research's (NBER) Center for Economic Studies. Ant has dual Turkish and Belgian citizenship. He is married to Nihal, an English language teacher, who studied at the University of Vienna and Hacettepe University, and has an MA in literature (German and English). She audits teacher education courses at Wellesley College and Harvard University as part of her Educator Licensure in Massachusetts. They are proud parents of Selin (16) and Tolga (12).
