Summary of the activities
Partial differential equations (PDEs) is a major topic in Pure and Applied Mathematics. PDEs are extensively used in sciences as the main ingredients for the modelization of real phenomena but also in many applied fields as for instance in manufacturing or finance. PDEs is a transdisciplinary domain of research where theory, applications and developments interplay.
The aim of this thematic program in PDEs is to gather specialists of the field, one professor from each partner of ULB, who will give an overview of their recent researches in 4-hour mini-courses. The activity is intended both for senior and young researchers with a special focus to Phd students and post-docs.
The courses will be given in May or June. A workshop with the participants will be held on June 2.
Chair of the thematic program
Professeur Denis Bonheure, ULB
About ULB's privileged partnership
The academic authorities have appointed a limited number of foreign institutions as “privileged partners ”. This choice has been based on the one hand on the number and quality
of scientific and teaching relations with these institutions, and on the other hand on the ULB’s international strategic orientations .
In practical terms, these are agreements between ULB and a partner university, whereby the two institutions set up special links that let them develop joint projects in teaching and research, and increase exchanges of students, lecturers and researchers.
The choice of partners is made based on the influence and links between the institutions, as well as on the University’s international policy.
