Dynamical Morse theory

The talk is about a dynamical version of Morse theory according to a problematic due to M. Gromov. We are specifically interested in the Morse inequality according to which on a manifold M, the number of critical points of a real-valued nondegenerate function is bounded below by the sum of the Betti numbers of M. In the presence of a discrete group action, and under certain hypotheses, one obtains an dynamical analog of such an inequality involving entropy functions measuring exponential growth of certain topological invariants.
