You have reached the personal website of Dr. Gilles Berger. I am currently working as a post-doctoral researcher in the Hanessian group at Université de Montréal.
After having graduated in june 2005 (Pharmaceutical Sciences, Master of Science), I began the preparation of a Ph.D. thesis under the supervision of François Dufrasne (Université Libre de Bruxelles) in october 2008; after a short stay as a quality assurance specialist in the pharmaceutical industry.
My thesis (available here), that I defended in december 2013, is aimed at synthesizing chiral platinum compounds and characterizing their in vitro anticancer properties using fingerprintig techniques. I also made the use of conceptual density functional theory to describe the reactivity of nitrogen-activated aziridines.
