Genetics, morphology and development of the Dumbo rats

The Dumbo rat exhibits some typical characteristics (i.e., short snout, low-sided ears) evoking human abnormalities, like the mandibulofacial dysostosis. In order to provide some understandings about this strain, we perform morphometric analysis of embryonic and adult skulls, histologic study of cephalic development and we develop a genetic analysis to locate the mutation.

This image shows the 3D reconstruction of a Dumba rat obtained from medical imaging. Morphometric analysis is perfomed in the in-house lhpFusionBox software.
