General policy

In practice

Your individual program

Important remarks:

General structure of the program:

Although in principle any combination of modules and specialisations is possible, it is recommended that students who take the module of econometrics, also add the option on quantitative economics. This combination constitutes a program of economics and statistics. This combination can be followed entirely in English.

Composing your program

We ask you to complete your individual program (Programme annuel de l'étudian = PAE) by 15 October, according to the following rules: For a complete regulation, see (in French) this site

Reduced annual credit program (French: Allégement)

On individual and well motivated basis (professional, social, medical), it is possible to compose an individual program of less than 60 ects (and consequently, spend more than two years to complete the 120 ects for a master in statistics).

Fill in this form

See more information on the website of the registration desk (service d'inscriptions) (click on Reduce your course load)

In particular, mind the deadline of 31 October

Re-balancing your program

When you have less than 120 but more than 75 credits to go, you may want to rebalance your program. Check this form

Attention: rebalancing seems to be incompatible with a reduced program. Check with the secretary's offices (this is not an academic issue).

Exemptions (French: previously dispenses, now: valorisations)

You may be exempt from presenting a course in either two ways Mind the following:

Seminars

Attendance to weekly seminars is compulsary in the second year (STAT-F-509) and an option in first year (STAT-F-426). The evaluation is on a pass/fail basis (all or nothing, 20 or 0). In order to pass, you must attend at least all but three seminars. These seminars take place on Thursday, 12h15, room R42.2.113 in the ECARES building. Check the list of seminars (and be aware of exceptional changes in room, time and program). Occasional additional seminars are announced on this website. Attendance to these seminars is not compulsary, but it may compensate for an absence at the regular seminars.

The master's thesis (MEMO-F-521)

See the master's thesis website

Internships (Stages)

Internships are possible (not mandatory) as part of the master's thesis. See the master's thesis website for more information
