Philippe De Brabanter

I teach English Linguistics at the Université Libre de Bruxelles.

I am the chief promoter of the interuniversity research project “Cognitive transparency of semantic contents and pragmatic determination of reference” (FNRS T.0184.16), in collaboration with Bruno Leclerq (ULg)

My research focuses on the use of everyday metalanguage, especially on various ways of quoting people and words. I am also interested in the semantics-pragmatics interface at large and in most issues to do with the morphosyntax of English.

My PhD dissertation (ULB, November 2002) is available here: Making Sense of Mention, Quotation, and Autonymy. A Semantic and Pragmatic Survey of Metalinguistic Discourse
